The Journey Begins

We purchased our tickets to Asia today. We leave for Hong Kong in 66 days. Such a definitive purchase feels exhilarating and makes all the plans we’ve been talking over for however long we’ve been talking over this trip seem suddenly real. Very. Real.

And so, a blog is born.

To give a bit of context, I left Brooklyn back in May to start a Farm Management Apprenticeship in Vermont. The weeks leading up to that departure were spent packing up our apartment of nearly four years and moving most of our belongings to a small storage unit near my parents’ house. In another three weeks, said apprenticeship will be coming to an end, and we will push on, devoting our remaining time in the country to visiting and catching up with family and friends on the east and west coasts.

So I suppose the journey really started a while ago.

I see this as a place to share and reflect along the way. A place to ruminate, if you will, which feels appropriately connected to the ruminants I’ve been working with this summer. And with no set itinerary, we get “Routeless Ruminations.”
